Chick Trip 2002
Cocoa, Florida to Pensacola, Florida
On the tenth of June, 2002, we left bright and early from my house in Cocoa.
That's me on the left and Lela on the right. Between us is The Answer. He is a doll that my husband, Eric, got for me from the ESPN store in Orlando. Eric did this purely to annoy me because he knows the little guy creeps me out. He is called The Answer because he has a big A on his chest. People on an ESPN game show are asked questions and they have to find The Answer.
Here is an example:
Question: What winery is near DeFuniak Springs, Florida, and specializes in Muscadine wines?
See, there he is, sitting on the sign! The Answer!
Anyway, we drove most of this day, wanting to get the heck out of the Sunshine State.
As you can see, we did take a short detour to visit Chautauqua Winery near DeFuniak Springs. One of the goals we had while on this trip was to visit wineries we traveled near. Chautauqua Vineyards is right off of I-10 so you don't need to travel a long way from the Interstate. The people were nice, though not full of personality. We bought a couple varieties. The best was the Blush - it was a bit sweet and light. Very easy to drink.
We stayed at a Best Western in Pensacola, Florida. We were pretty exhausted by this time. We did eat out at a nice, but overly expensive and pretentiously posh place called The Fish House. It had wonderful food and did look out over the bay, but still the prices were a little silly. It cost us $22.00 for one beer, a salad and an appetizer. We split these things and were full!
